On February 11th 2020, the Centre for Northern Studies (Centre d'études nordiques - CEN) lost its founding father. As an illustrious geographer, economist, defender of Aboriginal rights, pioneer and visionary of the North, Louis-Edmond Hamelin inspired generations of researchers to discover the many facets of Nordicity. Thanks to Mr. Hamelin, the CEN is shining today through its multidisciplinary approach, its involvement with the peoples of the North, and above all, through the sharing of his passion for northern environments. It is with regret but with immense gratitude that we say goodbye to him.
The CEN, on behalf of all its members, expresses its most sincere condolences to Mr. Hamelin's family and loved ones.
