In Whitehorse, the Minister of Transport of Canada announced two permafrost research contracts led by, or involving, CEN researchers. Researcher Michel Allard (CEN-ULaval) will receive more than $339,000 in funding to evaluate the effectiveness of climate change adaptation techniques applied at the Iqaluit Airport, Nunavut, and to identify other hazards associated with permafrost degradation, and to ensure knowledge transfer to the Government of Nunavut and local airport managers. The second contract will be led by a team from Yukon College in partnership with the CEN team. Congratulations to the CEN researchers and research staff who are involved in this important research.
