Publication Award (Undergraduates)

For: Undergraduates

The Undergraduate Publication Excellence Award is designed to encourage publication by students in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books (chapters). Students have two years following the completion of their bachelor's degree to apply for this award, and must be the first author of the publication based on the work completed during their undergraduate degree.

Please note that papers published in conference proceedings will not be awarded the Publication Excellence Award, but rather the Oral or Poster Award’s $100 bonus.

The amounts allocated for excellence in publishing are as follows:

  • 1st paper accepted: $300;
  • 2nd paper accepted (and +): $500.

Supporting documents

  • A copy of the official letter of acceptance of the article by the journal;
  • A copy of the first page of the published article (or manuscript if the article is not yet published) including the authors (you must be the first author) and their affiliations and the abstract as submitted to the journal. The affiliation of the researcher responsible for the project with the CEN must be mentioned. Students do not need to put their affiliation with CEN, as they are not official members of CEN;

Application Deadline

March 1st of each year.

We strongly encourage CEN members to add the following sentence in the acknowledgements section of their publication:

"We also thank the Centre d'études nordiques, a strategic grouping funded by the Fonds québécois de recherche Nature et Technologie for:

  • access to its research facilities;
  • the professional and logistical support;
  • the financial support in the realization of this project."
