General Information
CEN's Aircraft Charter Logistics Support Program (ACLSP) was set up to support the research activities of its regular and collaborating members around the Qaujisarvik network of research stations, and to facilitate access to remote sites in Nunavik communities. An announcement of this program is sent to all CEN members in February or March of each year, when members are invited to submit requests for aircraft time.
The application period is now open !
You have until January 17, 2024 to apply for the Aircraft Charter Logistics Support Program.
To apply, please fill out the online form.
Logistics Support Program Objectives
- Facilitate access to CEN members' study sites and promote research activities around the Qaujisarvik network of CEN research stations in the North.
- Make up for the lack of Arctic research support from Canada's Polar Continental Shelf Program (PCSP), which is only available to Nunavut.
- Reduce the cost of chartering one or more helicopters by maximizing their mobilization/demobilization costs, which are used by several CEN members.
- Facilitate touring of CEN's SILA network of climate stations in the North
Terms and conditions of the CEN logistics support program
Car rental and accommodation costs are not eligible.
Regular CEN members and collaborators may apply for logistical support (this is not a program for student members).
Only one application per member is accepted.
Members working on the same research project must submit a joint application for logistical support.
The amounts allocated to CEN researchers are determined according to the following rules :
- For the use of the helicopter chartered by the CEN in Hudsonie, funding of 50% of the total hours requested is granted, up to a maximum of $5,000.
- In the case of a collaborating member, this funding is reduced to 25% of the total hours requested, up to a maximum of $5,000.
- For the charter of a Twin Otter aircraft (or other aircraft) for access to a study site, funding of 40% of total estimated costs is granted, up to a maximum of $5,000.
- For the charter of a helicopter other than one chartered by CEN, if this charter generates research activities around one of CEN's Qaujisarvik network research stations and contributes significantly to CEN's outreach in northern communities, funding of 40% of the total hours requested is granted, up to a maximum of $5,000.
- For the chartering of a helicopter other than the one chartered by the CEN for the same sector of activity, or in another sector not served by this helicopter, funding of 25% of the total hours requested will be granted, up to a maximum of $5,000.
