General Information
The dedicated CEN Student Committee is pleased to offer students of the Centre d'études nordiques a three-day consecutive writing retreat in the serene and enchanting autumn setting of the Centre vacances Lac Simon, in Portneuf.
The retreat will take place from November 8 to 10 (Wednesday 10 am to Friday 5:30 pm), and is designed to provide CEN students with a structured and productive period in which to focus fully on their dissertation or thesis (or other writing assignments) while enjoying a stay in the great outdoors, far from the city.
What to Expect ?
Periods of "pomodoro-style" writing will be interspersed with outdoor activities, sports and relaxation, and you'll also have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from other universities. Evenings are spent around campfires and board games.
Logistics and Registration
There is a fee of $50 per person (includes room and board for the duration of the stay).
*Please note that we will be renting the cafeteria, but there will be no staff available to prepare meals. Therefore, we plan to buy as much prepared food as possible for lunches and form teams to prepare morning and evening meals. The morning meals will require little preparation, and for the evening meals we'll make very simple comfort foods that are easy to prepare in vegetarian or meat versions (e.g., spaghetti, vegetable stir-fry, shepherd's pie) so that everyone can make the most of their writing time. Snacks will be provided (cookies, muffins, coffee, fruit, etc.).
30 seats are available. Whether you're in the final sprint of your writing or just starting out, this is an ideal opportunity to write in optimal conditions.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and you have until October 27 to sign up via the following link!
