  Bylot Island vs Pond Inlet

Since we analysed weather data in Pond Inlet to have a broader idea of the climate trend in the Bylot Island region, we compared the air temperature of those two sites to verify if, indeed, it was similar in both areas. The comparison was made with air temperature data from 1994 to 2007, years for which we have data for both Pond Inlet and Bylot Island.

Results from the comparison show that air temperatures in Bylot Island and Pond Inlet are very similar, following almost the same yearly pattern. The main difference is that Bylot Island’s winter temperature is slightly colder than that of Pond Inlet.

Similar comparison was made for summer (June-July-August) rainfall between Pond Inlet and Bylot Island. The results from our comparison show that summer precipitation is similar between the two sites.
